According to Wikipedia, a vacation or holiday is a leave of absence from a regular occupation, or a specific trip or journey, usually for the purpose of recreation or tourism. It states that vacations are often spent with friends or family.
In an amusing turn of affairs, I also learnt from Wikipedia that historically the idea of vacations was a luxury that only the wealthy people could afford. And also that in recent times, the notion of breaking from work periodically has taken root among the middle and working class.
I am not disputing any of these; I am just of the opinion that you don’t have to be wealthy to go for a vacation. Also, a vacation doesn’t mean you have to travel or leave town for a number of days. You could have your vacation anywhere, it could be only a day and it could be the best thing to happen to you in a while. I also strongly believe that not only the working classes need vacations. I mean, everyone needs to pamper themselves or be pampered once in a while! Don’t we all? Even housewives! Especially housewives – and stay at home dads. In short, all I am trying to say is, everyone needs a bit of tender loving care once in a while.
By now you all know I don’t keep any good news to myself. I just can’t help it…seriously, if I don’t share the beautiful stuff with you, whom will I share it with? I honestly cannot think of anyone else.
I’m literally squeaking with pleasure as I write this, because I feel oh so rejuvenated. I’ve been having a really crazy year; no, not crazy in a bad way, but my work overload keeps piling up. It started with writing one short film script and before I knew it I was getting numerous offers to write scripts. At first I was more than happy – finally, I was getting genuine appreciation for my work. But then, what started as a good thing began spiraling out of control. Suddenly there was this huge workload…. and then I had deadlines to beat, before I could realize what was happening, I was sleeping past 3am every day.
What can I say; it has been an overwhelming year.
And yes, I needed a mini vacation.
So one weekend I left for Diani, but it didn’t do anything to calm my nerves. Do not get me wrong, Diani is a beautiful place and usually it is my go to place when I am stressed. It is then that I realized I needed something different, something truly magical. I didn’t just need to go and sit by the beach with my friends cracking jokes and drinking wine – heck not even the amazing sea food could clear me off this disease. Like I’ve said, I needed something magical, something to truly help me release the tension that had spread all over my body.
That is when it hit me. I needed a spa day treat.
Ombre Nail Spa – that’s what.
If you don’t know where that is, or you’ve never been there before, then you don’t even know what you are missing out on. Don’t wait until fatigue overtakes every single part of your body. Do it now, this weekend. You shouldn’t even be worried about your finances because trust me, no amount of money is worth the good that the service at that place will help you feel.
I have been to a number of spas in my life but this; this Ombre Nail spa is in a world of its own.
I started my “holiday” off with a pedicure. The thing is, I realized that my regular hairdresser (who also does my pedicures) has been giving me a raw deal. Even the towels in that place feel like nothing they use in my local salon. That warm soft towel (I’ve never felt anything that soft before) they put around my neck almost put me to instant sleep. Also, it’s the first time I saw pedicure go hand in hand with chocolate. Yes, chocolate! The only mistake I did was going there hungry, because it took all I could not to scoop some! Oh how yummy it looked! And oh how good looking and soft and silk my dark skinned legs felt after that! Here is the interesting bit; even the boyfriend noticed a difference, because he commented on how silky they felt.
Ladies, maneno ya kugwara bedsheet na mguu mutawacha hehe
Let me not say much, I will let the photos speak for themselves. I think I should also add that the manicure was superb (if the pedicure was that good, now imagine what the manicure could do to your hands!). As for the full body massage, I have only three words; heaven on earth.
I have some amazing news for you. If and when you do visit Ombre nail spa, use the code word {SUNSET} and they will give you a discount of 20% on ANY of the service you want. Remember, you have to use the code word SUNSET. The spa is located in Amal plaza, links Road Nyali, Mombasa, Kenya. Have a fabulous weekend, won’t you?

Thing is, you’ll never know until you give it a try. Also, women love it when you make some effort. So go for it!
