Football fans poured into Al Capone on Thika Road on Sunday for what turned out to be a memorable Premier League watch party, as Guinness hosted an immersive matchday experience built around one of English football’s fiercest rivalries: Arsenal versus Manchester United.
With massive HD screens, crisp surround sound and a crowd buzzing long before kickoff, the venue quickly transformed into a football sanctuary. From early afternoon, fans settled in for a packed slate of action, starting with Crystal Palace versus Chelsea. The Blues dominated the London derby, cruising to a 3–1 away win and setting the tone for a high energy evening.
All eyes, however, were firmly fixed on the headline clash. Table topping Arsenal faced off against archrivals Manchester United in a match that lived up to its billing. Goals flew in, tensions ran high and by the final whistle, Manchester United had edged out a dramatic 3–2 victory, sending half the room into celebration and the other into stunned silence.
Adding to the spectacle was live punditry from Manchester City’s Lotan Salapei, whose sharp analysis, playful banter and crowd engagement kept the atmosphere electric throughout the matches. His commentary bridged the gap between the pitch and the fans, making every tackle, miss and goal feel personal.
Guinness ensured the football was matched by the experience off the pitch. Every moment played out in stunning clarity, capturing the roar of the crowd, the thud of tackles and the collective gasp that only football can produce. Perfectly chilled Guinness flowed freely, grounding the excitement in the brand’s signature ritual and richness.
“The energy at this Guinness Matchday has been phenomenal,” said Joy Murugi, Brand Manager for Guinness. “The passion from fans on both sides of the Arsenal versus Manchester United game is exactly why Guinness Matchday exists. It is about bringing together people who share a love for the beautiful game and perfectly chilled Guinness. We are grateful for the record attendance and look forward to hosting another spectacular matchday soon.”
Beyond watching the game, fans were also invited to put their Premier League knowledge to the test through the Guinness Cleansheet Challenge, with rewards adding another layer of excitement to the afternoon. It was football as a shared experience, competitive, communal and celebratory.
As the Guinness Matchday series continues, it is steadily redefining how Kenyan fans experience football, blending the drama of the world’s most popular league with the heritage of one of the world’s most iconic beers. With more matchdays planned throughout the season, fans across the country have plenty to look forward to.
Guinness was first brewed by Arthur Guinness in Dublin in 1759 and has since grown into the world’s number one stout. In Kenya, Guinness has been enjoyed for nearly 50 years. Guinness Foreign Extra Stout remains the boldest expression of the brand, brewed with extra hops and roasted barley for a distinctive bite that balances bitter and sweet. Refreshingly crisp and deeply satisfying, it is available in 300ml and 500ml dark glass bottles.
Pure beauty. Pure Guinness.
