Visa Kenya and Disney Bring Exclusive Moana Live Action Experience to Kenya

For many Kenyans, paying with a bank card is simply another way to complete everyday purchases. Increasingly, however, those same everyday transactions are unlocking experiences that money alone cannot buy.

Ahead of the official Kenyan release of Disney’s highly anticipated Moana Live Action on 10th July 2026, Visa Kenya, in collaboration with The Walt Disney Company Africa, treated invited guests to an exclusive red carpet media screening at Westgate Cinema in Nairobi. The event gave media personalities, content creators and invited guests the opportunity to be among the first audiences in the country to experience Disney’s live action reimagining of one of its most beloved animated films in immersive 3D.

The evening was more than an early movie screening. It demonstrated how partnerships between global entertainment brands and payment technology companies are redefining customer rewards by transforming routine purchases into memorable lifestyle experiences.

The collaboration between Visa Kenya and The Walt Disney Company Africa reflects a growing trend where consumers expect more value from the services they already use. Beyond secure and effortless payments, Visa continues to create opportunities for its cardholders to access exclusive events, entertainment experiences and premium moments that extend well beyond the checkout counter.

“Moana is a celebration of courage, discovery, and the connections that guide us through every journey. For Visa cardholders, this exclusive screening offers the opportunity to be among the first in Kenya to experience the next chapter of Moana. Through our continued collaboration with The Walt Disney Company Africa, Visa continues to turn everyday payments into access, and access into meaningful moments worth remembering,” said Sheila Changangu, Marketing Director, East Africa, Visa.

The exclusive screening brought together blockbuster entertainment and immersive fan experiences, reinforcing Visa’s commitment to rewarding its customers in ways that create lasting memories. Cardholders also continue to benefit from seamless payments with no additional charges, making everyday transactions both convenient and rewarding.

In “Moana,” Disney’s live-action reimagining of the beloved Oscar®-nominated animated adventure, Moana (Catherine Lagaʻaia) answers the Ocean’s call and, for the first time, voyages beyond the reef of her island of Motunui with the infamous demigod Maui (Dwayne Johnson) on an unforgettable journey to restore prosperity to her people.

The film is directed by Emmy® and Tony Award® winner Thomas Kail (“Hamilton”); produced by Dwayne Johnson, Beau Flynn, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia and Lin-Manuel Miranda; and executive produced by Scott Sheldon, Charles Newirth, Thomas Kail and Auliʻi Cravalho.

Moana features original songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foaʻi and Mark Mancina, alongside an original score composed by Mark Mancina.

Speaking ahead of the regional release, Trushna Buddhdev-Patel, Managing Director of Crimson Multimedia Ltd, encouraged audiences to experience the film on the biggest screen possible.

“Moana remains one of my favourites, and seeing a live-action release, the excitement is higher than ever! Releasing wide across East African cinemas during the holidays, we urge audiences to watch it on the big screen where they will get the most immersive experience.”

The live action adaptation officially opens in participating cinemas across Kenya from 10th July 2026, screening in immersive 3D. Moviegoers will be able to catch the film at selected cinemas in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu and Eldoret, giving audiences across the country the chance to experience the adventure on the big screen during the holiday season.

As entertainment and technology continue to intersect, collaborations such as this demonstrate how brands can create meaningful customer experiences that go beyond products and services. Through initiatives like the Moana exclusive screening, Visa Kenya continues to show that something as simple as paying with your Visa card can become the beginning of an unforgettable experience.
