Samsung has unveiled its new Galaxy Tab S12 series, bringing the Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+ to users looking for a tablet that can handle work, study, creativity and entertainment in one device.
The new tablets combine large Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays, upgraded performance, long battery life, Galaxy AI and the S Pen, while Samsung is also putting a strong emphasis on professional apps and creative tools.
In Kenya, the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra starts at KES 203,200, while the Galaxy Tab S12+ starts at KES 176,000.
A slimmer design with more power
The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra measures just 5.1mm thick, making it Samsung’s thinnest Galaxy Tab yet. Despite its slim design, Samsung says it delivers the most powerful performance of any Galaxy Tab to date.
Both models are designed for demanding tasks, with the latest 3nm processor delivering up to 61% faster NPU processing, 19% faster CPU performance and 17% improved GPU performance compared with the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra.
A redesigned 3D Vapor Chamber is also designed to help manage heat during demanding activities such as video editing and graphic design.
The tablets are IP68-rated for water and dust resistance, adding another layer of durability for users who want to work away from a desk.
Big screens for work, study and entertainment
The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra comes with a 14.6-inch display, while the Galaxy Tab S12+ has a 12.6-inch screen with slimmer bezels than its predecessor.
Both feature Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays with up to 1,600 nits of peak brightness. Samsung’s upgraded Vision Booster can adjust brightness in real time depending on the surrounding lighting conditions.
The tablets also feature four channel spatial audio, twice as many channels as the previous generation, for a more immersive experience when watching content, following tutorials or working on creative projects.
Battery life is another major part of the package. Samsung says the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra can deliver up to 23 hours of use on a single charge, while the Tab S12+ can last up to 21 hours.
With a 45W adapter, the battery can go from 0% to 100% in about 95 minutes.
Galaxy AI turns the tablet into a workspace
The Galaxy Tab S12 series runs Android 17 with One UI 9 and brings Galaxy AI into everyday tasks.
The large displays support Multi Window, allowing users to split the screen into up to three sections. Someone taking an online course, for example, could have a lecture playing alongside Samsung Notes while using an AI assistant to clarify something from the lesson.
The included S Pen can then be used to take notes, annotate material or sketch ideas, while Note Assist can help summarize notes.
Both tablets come with an ergonomic S Pen. Users looking for a more traditional workstation can also pair the tablets with Samsung’s Pro Keyboard, which features an aluminum finish and a Galaxy AI Key for quick access to AI assistants.
There is also the Book Cover Keyboard Slim for users who want a lighter keyboard setup and adjustable viewing angles.
Google AI Pro comes with the tablet
Samsung is also giving Galaxy Tab S12 users a six month trial of Google AI Pro.
Users can turn to Gemini when they need clarification or want to explore a topic further. Gemini Notebook can bring together notes, images, recordings and files in one workspace, allowing users to create summaries, podcasts and quizzes.
Samsung Browser is also designed to make research easier by using webpage content, open tabs and browsing history to help summarize information or surface sources that users have previously viewed.
For students, researchers and anyone who tends to have approximately 47 tabs open at once, that could come in handy.
Built for creators too
Samsung is positioning the Galaxy Tab S12 series as more than a productivity device, with a collection of professional and creative apps available on the tablets.
Adobe Photoshop comes pre loaded on the Galaxy Tab S12 series, with the interface optimized for tablet use and S Pen support. Photoshop also includes AI-powered tools such as AI Assistant and Adobe Firefly features including Generative Fill and Image to Video.
Galaxy Tab S12 users receive four months of free access to the Photoshop mobile plan.
Notability is also pre-loaded, offering S Pen optimization and AI-powered study tools, alongside a six-month free trial and 20% off the first subscription.
Goodnotes comes with one year of free access, while LumaFusion is available at a 66% discount for video editing. Notion offers one month of its Plus plan free, while Clip Studio Paint comes with a six-month trial and 20% off the first subscription.
Other apps include MyScript Math for handwritten equations, MyScript Notes for turning handwritten notes into study materials, Noteshelf 3 for organizing ideas and ArcSite for converting rough field sketches into CAD drawings.
Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and S12+ price in Kenya

Seven years of software and security updates
Samsung says the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+ will receive up to seven generations of OS upgrades and security updates.
The tablets are also supported by Samsung Care+, which offers coverage for accidental damage, extended warranty and access to certified support.
For Galaxy phone users running One UI 9, Samsung has also made it possible to check the Samsung Care+ status of a connected Galaxy Tab through the Warranty and care menu in Settings.
From there, users can access warranty information, self diagnostics, repair requests and remote support for connected devices.
The Galaxy Tab S12 series is ultimately aimed at people who want one device that can move between work, study and creative projects without feeling like they have to compromise too much on any one of them.
And with the S Pen included, a large display, Galaxy AI and a growing collection of professional apps, Samsung is clearly positioning its latest tablets as something closer to a portable workstation than simply a bigger screen for watching Netflix.
