The Bloggers Association of Kenya (BAKE) has released the list of nominees for the 2026 BAKE Awards and stated that public voting is now live nationwide. This is BAKE Awards’ tenth anniversary and they continue to serve as the definitive benchmark for excellence in Kenya’s digital landscape.
This year’s edition aims to recognize the resilience of storytellers, putting in the hard work, sometimes against huge odds.
It is worth noting that once again, yours truly has been nominated this year under the best lifestyle creator category – an honour we do not take lightly. Thank you to everyone that submitted our name for nomination.
The 2026 BAKE Awards judges
This year’s judges were:
- Dr. Martin Mburu: Author and academic focused on literary quality.
- Leo Mutisya: Expert in media policy and civic ethics.
- Ahmad Salim: Creative strategist specializing in audience connection.
- Rayhab Gachango: Managing Editor of Potentash and veteran of African storytelling.
- Vanencia Otieno: Advertising professional with a sharp eye for brand strategy.
Even though the submissions were massive, the judges narrowed the field down to five outstanding nominees across 22 diverse categories, ranging from financial literacy to grassroots journalism.
How to Vote
It is now in the public’s interest – and power – to decide who will take home the trophies. Voting is simple:

- Review the five nominees in each of the 23 categories.
- Submit your choice. Remember to visit category number 19, under Best Lifestyle Creator, and vote for our blog Sunset In Africa.
