The camp’s new Mara Fiki package is not selling the usual safari formula. With it there are no crowded vans, buffet small talk or rigid schedules. What it offers instead, is exclusivity without pretence.
Designed for groups of four to ten people, the experience is built around the idea that the best trips are often the ones shared with close friends, cousins, siblings or longtime travel companions. No strangers or awkward icebreakers. Just your crew and the freedom to experience the Mara at your own pace.

The journey itself becomes part of the story. Friends can convoy from Nairobi through Narok before heading into the dusty Sekenani trails, eventually arriving at a camp reserved entirely for them. Once there, you decide what direction you want the trip to take. Wake up early for game drives or sleep in after a late night fireside conversation. Spend the evening under the stars with music playing softly in the background or gather around a spontaneous nyama choma session.
“We built this camp so that small groups never have to compromise. No more sharing your breakfast with 30 strangers. This is the Mara, redefined for friends.”
— The Castel Mara Vision
One of the package’s more refreshing details is its relaxed approach to food and drinks. Guests are encouraged to bring their own groceries, snacks and preferred drinks, with the camp staff stepping in to cook or assist where needed. It is less “luxury safari performance” and more intimate house getaway in the middle of the wild.

And while the atmosphere is casual, there is nothing casual about the landscape, which happens to be spectacular. Located within the Siana Conservancy, the camp offers access to guided bush walks with Maasai trackers and quieter game drives away from some of the heavier tourist traffic associated with the main reserve. Lions, elephants and endless golden plains still take centre stage, but without the sense of rushing from one checklist stop to another.

At a time when many travellers are searching for experiences that feel personal rather than packaged, Castel Mara’s Mara Fiki concept taps into the joy of disappearing into nature with people who already know your stories, your playlists and your sense of humour.
Sometimes, the perfect safari is not about luxury in the traditional sense, but simply about having the Mara to yourselves.
