Cracked your Galaxy screen? Samsung Care+ could make the repair considerably cheaper
For many smartphone owners, the dreaded cracked screen is one of those accidents that can turn an ordinary day into an expensive one. Samsung is now expanding access to Samsung Care+, a service plan designed to help owners of eligible Galaxy smartphones deal with the cost of accidental damage through Samsung’s authorised repair network.
The service offers subsidised repair fees for qualifying accidental damage, including screen damage, while ensuring repairs are carried out using genuine Samsung parts by trained technicians.
Importantly, Samsung Care+ is not a replacement for Samsung’s standard warranty. The two cover different things.
Samsung’s standard warranty covers manufacturer defects at no charge for 24 months from the date of purchase. Care+, on the other hand, is designed for accidental damage that would normally fall outside the warranty, such as a cracked screen caused by everyday use.
Care+ runs for 12 months from device activation, and customers must register within 30 days. Each plan allows one qualifying screen repair.
A cracked screen is one thing, but some of the damage we do to our phones happens slowly through everyday habits. If you want your Galaxy to last longer, here are 5 things you should stop doing.
How much does Samsung Care+ cost for a screen repair?
The subsidised repair fee varies depending on the country and Galaxy series.
| Country | Z Series | S Series | A Series (A32–A73) | A Series (A14–A27) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kenya | KES 15,693 | KES 7,847 | KES 3,923 | KES 3,139 |
| Tanzania | TZS 320,689 | TZS 160,344 | TZS 80,172 | TZS 64,138 |
| Ethiopia | ETB 19,563 | ETB 9,782 | ETB 4,891 | ETB 3,913 |
| Uganda | UGX 447,262 | UGX 223,631 | UGX 111,815 | UGX 89,452 |
For Kenyan Galaxy owners, that could make a noticeable difference. An out of warranty screen replacement for some A and S Series devices can cost KES 15,000 to KES 30,000 or more on the open market, depending on the model and repair provider.
With Care+, customers who register within the required period have a subsidised route to an authorised Samsung repair.
Warranty or Care+? Here is the difference
The simplest way to look at it is this: the warranty covers what goes wrong with the phone, while Care+ helps with what happens to the phone.
If your Galaxy develops a manufacturing defect, the standard 24-month warranty applies. If you accidentally damage the phone, Care+ provides a discounted repair option where the device is eligible.
Care+ is available only for selected genuine Samsung smartphones sold with a 24-month warranty. It does not apply to grey import devices.
Samsung also notes that newly launched Fold and Flip models are not currently covered locally because they are not officially ranged in these markets with an applicable 24-month warranty.
How to register for Samsung Care+
There are two ways for eligible Galaxy owners to register.
Customers can register online through Samsung Care+ by entering their device’s IMEI or serial number.
On newer Galaxy phones running One UI 9, registration can also be done directly from the device through:
Settings > Warranty & Care
This option is available on newer models, including the Galaxy S26 FE, Galaxy A08, Galaxy A18, Fold8 and Flip8 series.
For repairs and support, customers should use Samsung’s authorised service centre network. In Kenya, Samsung’s customer care line is 0800 545 545.
Samsung Care+ is essentially an added layer of protection for Galaxy owners who would rather not face the full cost of an unexpected accidental repair, particularly when it comes to one of the most common smartphone accidents: a cracked screen.
