MultiChoice Talent Factory Opens Applications for 2026 Intake

MultiChoice Talent Factory opens applications for its 2026 intake, offering fully funded film and TV training for aspiring African creatives.

Pan African film and television academy MultiChoice Talent Factory has officially opened applications for its 2026 intake, inviting young African creatives to apply for its fully funded professional training programme.

The programme targets aspiring directors, filmmakers, producers, scriptwriters and storytellers who want to build sustainable careers in Africa’s growing film and TV industry.

Following MultiChoice’s integration into the CANAL+ group, the company has reaffirmed its commitment to developing compelling African content by investing directly in talent. The Talent Factory remains one of the group’s key pipelines for nurturing the next generation of African storytellers.

The 2026 intake features a nine month, fully accredited programme designed to balance theory with hands on production experience. Training is delivered through a hybrid model that combines interactive online learning with intensive in person sessions.

MultiChoice Talent Factory academies are based in Kenya, Nigeria, and Zambia, serving creatives from 14 African countries. Students benefit from industry mentorship, real world production exposure, and access to professional networks that support long term career growth.

Since launching in 2018, MTF has trained 296 filmmakers and supported the production of more than 42 films. During the programme, participants develop original projects that are broadcast on DStv and GOtv channels including Maisha Magic, Zambezi Magic and Africa Magic, as well as on the Showmax streaming platform.

Graduate outcomes remain strong. Many alumni secure work within the MultiChoice ecosystem, contributing to major African productions, while others have launched independent ventures. To date, more than 50 production companies have been founded by MTF graduates.

MTF’s focus on hyperlocal storytelling continues to gain international recognition. Alumni projects and filmmakers have earned nominations and wins at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, Kalasha Awards, Uganda Film Festival, and Women in Film Awards. Graduates also participate in global creative markets such as the European Film Market and Durban FilmMart.

These achievements reflect the calibre of filmmakers produced by the programme and its role in strengthening Africa’s creative economy through authentic storytelling.

Applications for the 2026 intake close on 27 February 2026. Interested candidates can visit the MultiChoice Talent Factory website to review programme requirements and apply.

For African creatives with ambitions in film and television, the MTF programme offers a fully funded pathway into the future of African entertainment.
