The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has opened applications for 36 programmes at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), offering a fresh opportunity for Form Four leavers who scored grades C, C-, D+ and D in the KCSE examinations.
The move significantly expands access to medical and health related training, especially for students who may not have qualified for university admission but are eager to pursue careers in the healthcare sector.
Applications are open for the March 2026 intake and are being processed exclusively through the KUCCPS student portal.
Who Is Eligible?
The programmes target KCSE candidates who meet the minimum grade and subject requirements set for each course. Some programmes accept students with a mean grade of C (plain) Others accept C-, D+ or D, depending on the course.
Most programmes require at least C- in English or Kiswahili and Mathematics. Science based courses may require Biology or Biological Sciences. Applicants are advised to carefully review individual programme requirements before making their selections.
Certificate Programmes available
These programmes mainly target students with C- to D grades and provide entry level skills in the health sector. They include: Certificate in Community Health Assistant, Certificate in Health Records and Information Technology, Certificate in Health Insurance Management, Certificate in Kenya Enrolled Community Health Nursing, Certificate in Medical Emergency Technician, Certificate in Medical Engineering, Certificate in Nutrition and Dietetics, Certificate in Orthopaedic Trauma Medicine, Certificate in Public Health, and Certificate in Mortuary Science, with training offered across various KMTC campuses countrywide depending on programme availability.
Diploma Programmes available
Diploma courses generally require a higher KCSE mean grade, mostly C or C-, and prepare students for more specialised healthcare roles.
The diploma programmes available under the KUCCPS–KMTC March intake span a wide range of healthcare disciplines designed to prepare students for both clinical and support roles within the medical sector. These include Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery, Diploma in Community Health, Diploma in Community Oral Health, Diploma in Dental Technology, Diploma in Emergency Medical Technology, Diploma in Health Counselling, Diploma in Health Insurance Management, Diploma in Health Promotion, Diploma in Health Records and Information Technology, Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing, Diploma in Kenya Registered Nursing, Diploma in Kenya Registered Nursing and Midwifery, Diploma in Mental Health and Psychiatry, Diploma in Medical Engineering, Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences, Diploma in Medical Social Work, Diploma in Mortuary Science, Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics, and Diploma in Occupational Therapy, all of which are offered across selected KMTC campuses nationwide depending on capacity and demand.
