If you’ve been reading Sunset in Africa for a while, you already know that I am always looking for ways to help you save money without sacrificing the good things in life.
Whether it’s travel, food, experiences or the occasional luxury, I firmly believe that enjoying life shouldn’t require taking out a second mortgage. Earlier this year, I shared a Valentine’s gift guide featuring Arabian perfumes that smell remarkably similar to designer fragrances at a fraction of the cost. The response was overwhelming. It quickly became one of our best performing articles on Google, proving that many of us want to smell expensive without actually spending expensive money (sic).
As someone who genuinely loves perfumes, Arabian fragrances have had me in a chokehold for quite some time now.
And I don’t mean that in a casual “I own one bottle” kind of way.
I mean the kind where you finish bottle after bottle and immediately start researching what to buy next.

My collection has introduced me to some incredible scents over the past few years. Some have lasted all day, some have earned compliments from complete strangers, and a few have made me question why anyone would spend KSh 30,000 on a designer fragrance when a KSh 4,000 alternative smells nearly identical. Here, I am talking about Ajwad, the bottle with a black top (it’s my all time favourite).
Right now, the fragrance sitting at the very top of my wish list is Club de Nuit Woman by Armaf. Fragrance enthusiasts have been calling it one of the closest alternatives to Chanel Coco Mademoiselle for years, and every review I come across makes me want it even more. At this point, it’s less of a wish and more of an inevitability.
But before I empty my wallet yet again, I figured it was time to share some of the best Arabian fragrance dupes currently available for both women and men.
Now, before the fragrance police come for me, let’s get one thing straight: a dupe is not a counterfeit. These fragrances are inspired by popular luxury scents and often feature similar scent profiles, but they remain legitimate fragrances in their own right.
With that out of the way, here are ten Arabian perfumes that deliver luxury fragrance vibes without the luxury price tag.
1. Club de Nuit Woman
(costs roughly 3,500 to 5,000 depending on who you are buying from)

Smells similar to: Chanel Coco Mademoiselle
If Coco Mademoiselle is the effortlessly chic woman walking into a Parisian café wearing designer sunglasses, Club de Nuit Woman is her equally stylish cousin who somehow paid a quarter of the price.
Fresh citrus notes open the fragrance before giving way to elegant florals and patchouli. The result is sophisticated, feminine and surprisingly close to one of Chanel’s most beloved creations.
The best part? Most people around you won’t know the difference.
2. Maison Alhambra Delilah (Women)
(costs roughly 2,000 to 3,000)

Smells similar to: Parfums de Marly Delina
Delina has become one of the most talked about luxury fragrances in the world, but its price tag can cause temporary cardiac arrest.
Delilah captures much of the magic that made Delina famous. Expect juicy lychee, rose and soft vanilla wrapped together in a scent that feels romantic, elegant and unmistakably feminine.
For many fragrance lovers, this is one of the best Arabian dupes ever created.
3. Lattafa Eclaire (Women)
(costs around 2,500 to 4000)

Smells similar to: Giardini di Toscana Bianco Latte
Sweet tooth fragrance lovers, this one is for you.
Eclaire smells like warm vanilla, caramel and creamy milk notes blended into a dessert like fragrance that somehow manages to avoid becoming sickly sweet.
If you’ve been hearing fragrance influencers rave about Bianco Latte but don’t want to spend designer level money, Eclaire offers a very convincing alternative.
4. Lattafa Nebras (Women)
(roughly 4,000)

Smells similar to: Billie Eilish Eilish
Nebras has quietly built a cult following, and after one spray it’s easy to understand why.
Rich vanilla, cocoa, berries and amber create a warm, cozy fragrance that feels like wrapping yourself in a luxurious cashmere blanket during a rainy afternoon.
It is sweet, comforting and incredibly addictive.
5. Maison Alhambra Opera Noir (Women)
(costs roughly 2,000-3,000)

Smells similar to: Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium
If there is one fragrance that defined the era of “addictive sweet coffee scents,” it is Black Opium. Warm, bold, slightly edgy and instantly recognizable, it has become a modern classic for women who like their perfumes a little mysterious.
Maison Alhambra Opera Noir comes remarkably close to capturing that same energy. From the first spray, you get that familiar hit of coffee blended with sweet vanilla and soft white florals, gradually drying down into a warm, slightly spicy sweetness that lingers beautifully on the skin.
What makes Opera Noir stand out is how wearable it is. It carries the same seductive, night out vibe as the original but at a price that feels almost suspicious when you compare the two side by side.
For anyone who has always loved Black Opium but not the price tag, this is one of the closest Arabian interpretations you will find in the market right now.
6. Armaf Club de Nuit Intense Man (Men)
(costs 3,000-5,000)

Smells similar to: Creed Aventus
Few fragrances have achieved legendary dupe status quite like Club de Nuit Intense Man.
For years, fragrance communities have debated whether this is the best Aventus alternative ever made. With its smoky pineapple opening and masculine woody dry down, it delivers a luxury experience without the luxury price.
7. Lattafa Asad (Men)
(costs roughly 2,500)

Smells similar to: Dior Sauvage Elixir
Asad is bold, spicy and unapologetically masculine.
Featuring notes of black pepper, tobacco, vanilla and amber, it captures much of the richness and intensity that made Sauvage Elixir famous while remaining affordable enough for everyday wear.
8. Maison Alhambra Jean Lowe Immortal (Men)
(roughly 3,000 – 5,000)

Smells similar to: Louis Vuitton L’Immensité
Fresh, citrusy and incredibly versatile, Jean Lowe Immortal has become one of the hottest Arabian fragrances in recent years.
It is clean enough for the office, sophisticated enough for dinner dates and versatile enough for almost any occasion.
9. Armaf Hunter Intense (Men)
(roughly 4,000)

Smells similar to: Dior Sauvage and Paco Rabanne Invictus
Think of Hunter Intense as a fragrance that borrowed the best qualities from two best selling designer scents.
Fresh, energetic and easy to wear, it’s the kind of fragrance that attracts compliments without trying too hard.
10. Maison Alhambra Tobacco Touch (Men)
Costs roughly 3,000

Smells similar to: Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille
This is one of the most talked-about Arabian interpretations of Tom Ford’s iconic Tobacco Vanille. It leans warm, spicy, and deeply luxurious with a rich blend of tobacco leaf, vanilla and soft spices.
It carries that same “old money lounge” vibe, the kind of scent that feels like leather chairs, dark wood and expensive decisions.
While Tobacco Vanille is often seen as a winter signature fragrance for luxury enthusiasts, Tobacco Touch offers a surprisingly close experience without the designer price tag. It’s bold, mature and long lasting – exactly what you’d expect from a scent inspired by Tom Ford’s private blend collection.
The perfume industry has always sold us a dream: that luxury must come with a luxury price tag.
Arabian perfumers have spent the last decade proving otherwise.
While no dupe will ever be a perfect copy of a designer fragrance, many come impressively close. In some cases, they last longer, project further and attract just as many compliments as the luxury originals that inspired them.
And if smelling like KSh 30,000 while spending closer to KSh 4,000 isn’t a financial life hack, I don’t know what is.
